I own a retail store . I am using Abcre POS on a Single PC , but now i wanted to use it on two pcs where one should act as server and the other as client . Client Pc will be used by my employee . I'll be using single thermal receipt printer which will be connected to the server . Now the question is that what ethernet cable should i use to connect these pcs whether a crossedover ethernet cable or the basic/standard one .

Solution
If you are connecting the client computer directly to the "server" you will need a crossover cable. If you are connecting them to a switch/router, you will use a standard cable.

If you have gig ports the concept of crossover vs straight does not really exist it transmits and receives on all 4 pair on both end simultaneously.

Most modern ports even 100 have what is called automdix. The port figures out what type of connection the devices need and switches it electronically. You can use straight cables pretty much all the time now days. Only something old would need crossover cables.

Still that is only at the electrical level as other have noted you may have to have ip addresses set and that is many times easier using a router.
