Hello everyone,

I recently sent my old Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8gb 1866 CL9 memories for replacement because one of the sticks died after about 2 years. Now they replaced them with a brand new Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400mhz CL11 sticks (2x8) and i had few problems with them.

First of all, computer wont boot if i start with 2400mhz xpm profile. I needed to overclock my cpu (i5 4670k) to 4ghz mark to boot, 4.2ghz mark to be able to stablize in games. Never needed to overclock my CPU with my 1866mhz Sticks. I even downclocked at some occasions, where i did not need CPU power at all.

Ram timings are 11-13-13-31 atm, which seems pretty crappy to me, although i don't know much about ram timings. Not sure how this would effect me compared to my old 1866mhz 9-10-9-27 (if i remember correctly, maybe wrong)

NEW UPDATE : I am not able to run these memories even with 1866mhz 9-10-9-27 settings without any errors, my Vengeance pro 1866mhz kit worked just fine at CL9. I tried both pre-fixed XMP mode, and manual at 1866-2133-2400 settings, nothing seems to be working above 1600mhz. Not sure why this is happening. Sometimes it crashes on stress test (Aida64 says i have a hardware issue), sometimes game closes itself without any errors or anything. Its happens any value above 1600mhz. Computer boots, but some memory problems starts to occur as mentioned before.

Do you have any suggestions regarding this issue? I don't want to use my computer overclocked, since i don't need that extra cpu power. I will be mostly playing games, i know memories won't effect performance that much.

-Should i reduce frequency in order to get better timings and be able to use with lower cpu frequency? If yes, how am i supposed to change ram timings?

PC Specs;
-i5 4670k CPU
-Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400mhz CL11 2x8gb Memories
-Asus Z97-AR Mobo ( Supports up to 3200mhz )
-Gtx970

It seems working just fine with these values. Although i didn'T test it in game, but it doesn't give the hardware error atleast in Aida64 stress test. How about 2133 and 2400 values? Should i push it further or stay at 1866. It a bit dissapointment that my new kit is working slower than my older one. Also my command rate is at 1T and tRFC at 281. I don't know what those two do.

Thank you for your reply, i will keep testing it then i'll paly some games later on. I'll keep you informed.

That's so weird because I had the exact same experience trying to use my G.Skill TridentX 2400 at the TridentX 1866 tested timings. The 2400 kit is tested by G.Skill at 10-12-12-31, the 1866 at 8-9-9-24. My 2400 kit gets errors in memtest86 at 8-9-9-24, but NOT at 8-10-10-25.

I guess when it comes to RAM binning, you can't get the best of both worlds. Maybe the lower speed kits are binned from RAM that tested well at lower timings, and the higher speed kits taken from from RAM that passes at higher timings. It just seems like the faster RAM should be able to hit the lower timings just as well.
