Hey everybody, I am in a tricky situation for my internet. We can't have cable Internet at my home so we are trying to get Internet at a small office room on a property we own in the nearby town. The problem is that a small business is leasing the rest of the building and has verizon business internet. When I called verizon about setting up and residential plan for our office they said it was not possible to have business and residential in the same location. So now I am considering getting a business plan from verizon but don't know what plan to get. I've heard there are a fair amount of differences between business and residential but don't really know what they are.

Basically what we want is high speed Internet for a single room office that will be used by one or two people at a time. Since we don't have Internet at home we would like to be able to hook up Xbox live in this office. I also do Pc gaming. So we need something that is fast enough for two people to be playing call of Duty or rocket league or something like that. We would be split screening if that makes any difference.

Here are the business options on Verizons website for my area.

1mbps down - 384 kbs up. 40$
3mbps down - 768kbs up. 48$
5mbps down - 768kbs up. 65$
7mbps down - 768kbs up. 85$
10-15mbps down - 1mbps up. 95$

So do any of these sound good? They seem lower than the residential plans but I've heard that they're built for more people so it would still work for gaming where the ping would be ok?

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm fairly new to this so keep that in mind with any advice you give haha. Thanks again!

Really the major difference between business and regular home service is the support and guaranteed uptime. The speed you get would be the same.

Your speed sounds like it's DSL, you don't have any other options for an ISP? No FIOS or cable provider at that office building?

For gaming, you don't need too much bandwidth once you have the game installed and patched, and if you are not streaming movies or something, you should be fine on the 3 mbps connection. You can always upgrade even if you sign a contract with them, I've yet to see a business say no to you giving them more money LOL. If 3 is not enough, then you can try 5.
