Hello I have a 1tb HDD that I installed windows and about 500gb worth of games and apps on before i switched out the motherboard and installed windows 8.1 on my new SSD forgetting to wipe the old data on the HDD before i moved it to the new PC. Now I am stuck with only half of my gb space, I would like to fix this problem without completely wiping the drive if possible because i fear it will mess up my PC in some way.

Solution
You can't play the games on the old. Info for them wont be in the registry . So unless you plan on putting it back in the case it came from, there's no point keeping them. Unless you reinstall them

If the old hdd is connected now and you can see it. If it appears in file explorer right mouse on it format / quick format.

Or do it in disk management

If your OS is installed on an SSD and the HDD is just attached as a secondary drive you should be able to format the secondary drive without issues. Keep in mind formatting a drive will remove any data contained on it. So if you aren't sure which drive is the HHD and which is the SSD where the OS is installed, you might want to get some addition assistance. Or provide some more details to the configuration of your system.
