Hi Guys

I am recently having a disk read error problem with the usual 'Disk Read Error - Press Ctrl Alt Delete to Restart' error message. I am unsure of how to fix this and would be very grateful of any help. Some things I have tried so far:

- I have tried changed SATA cables
- Removing every drive besides my boot drive
- Running Chkdsk did nothing and seemed to run really quickly where I would have expected it to take a long time

The only things that have worked for me so far allowing me to use my PC is:
- Unplugging the keyboard and mouse and replacing them with a different pair actually did not produce a disk read error. This however seemed to be fluke because since then I have received the error using the same keyboard and mouse. However with the keyboard/mouse that I replaced I could not navigate the Bios, only with the new set.

I have now figured out a guaranteed way to launch my PC, when I go to the Bios if I go to the last tab it displays a 'Boot Override' list with what looks to be a list of everything plugged in to a SATA cable. If if press enter on the option 'Sata PS Optiarc dvd-rom ddu1' then this launches my PC absolutely fine with seemingly no further problems.

Some things to note:
- My motherboard is Gigabyte and the bios is 'uefi dualbios'
- I cannot access the bios when I have a certain keyboard and mouse combo plugged in

Many thanks in advance for any help

The way you get the system to boot is a bit odd, since it seems you are booting off the DVD drive and not the hard drive.

Fist, if you don't have a backup of the drive, make one.

Download a disk test utility from the drive vendor, run it, see what you get from that.
