I am no expert, But if you have a PCI-Express x16 slot, and you remove your old videocard, there is room. Whether it's 2.0 or 3.0 shouldnt matter too much because gpu's which are...

The issue with video cards is not usually your motherboard, but your case. Make sure that your case has room for long graphics cards. A GTX 970 is going to need about 10.5 inches of clearance. Good gaming cases are designed to allow plenty of room for the 16x pcie slot. Your motherboard has a slot that should accept a GTX 970, and that card should work in it so I am not sure what the issue actually is here.

Well, I have a very big case with enough space. The guy that should install the GTX 960 said it's not compatible because of the motherboard.

I am no expert, But if you have a PCI-Express x16 slot, and you remove your old videocard, there is room. Whether it's 2.0 or 3.0 shouldnt matter too much because gpu's which are 3.0 also support 2.0 PCI-Express slots. As long as you have an appropriate power supply and enough clearance any gpu should fit in a pci-express x16 slot

(Edit; I'm no expert on this stuff so I might be wrong, 80% sure i am right tho)
