Should I Buy an LGA 1556 Overclocking Motherboard?

Okay so here is the deal,

I have a i7-875k lying around and am trying to decide if I should invest in a good overclocking motherboard and CPU cooler or simply jump up to a newer platform. From what I have been able to find it seems you can only find used boards online around $100 - $200 for the LGA 1556 socket that would be good overclocking boards. Do you think I would be better off just upgrading to the newer platform or is this a good option. Also if anyone knows of some good LGA 1556 overclocking boards I am open for suggestions.

Solution
I would think so, no reason you can't try a different mobo - if it OCs then you might raise resell value of the rig, but the gains won't be huge
What other parts do you have? If all you have is the processor, I would say just use the latest generation parts. The 875k is still a decent processor, so if you had some DDR3 RAM you could pick up a used motherboard for $50.00 (not going to be an overclocking board, though) and build a budget gaming system.

So just a little clarification, yes I meant the 1156 socket (typo). I currently have a whole pc, just the motherboard I am using doesn't support overclocking. Sounds like the consensus is I would be better off getting a newer motherboard & cpu than trying to stretch out the life of my current hardware?
