So I want to enable ASUS Optimal in my bios but Im worried it would break my computer because it slightly overclocks my normal turbo clock speed from 3.5 to 3.8 I have an intel 5960X and I want to use ASUS Optimal to get better frames per second in flight simulator X. I have recource hungry airport addons so Im wondering if I turn on ASUS Optimal it would increase my fps. So I want an answer if ASUS Optimal is safe and give me better fps. btw I have a gtx 980ti. My friend says its safe because why would it exist if it was bad but I want to be careful. I want your opinion and Ive heard people saying that its bad if your cpu is unlocked or something I really dont know I just need an answer that will make me once and for all determine if this feature is useful or useless and harms PC. and does better clock speed mean better fps anyways?

Solution
Can give it a try - it won't break anything, once you do you might next look to see if you can lower th CPU voltage any. Most of these BIOS and software auto OC things tend to set voltages a bit on the high side.

Ok I wont do it Im too worried but I have 1 quick question, what about Perfer maximum performance mode in nvidia control panel is that safe to use, I use it on old games that dont push the graphics card too much and I use it on games that I get lag spikes and stuff.

you tell me its safe yet you tell me to monitor my temps thats not reassuring so Ill just turn it off and use optimal power and by the way Ive been using perfer maximum performance for 1 week I was just making sure.
