I recently upgraded from an FX-6300 to an i7 6700k, I noticed that in games i would sometimes stutter but after installing my new CPU it seems that the stuttering has been escalated to an unbearable level. Does anyone know what might be causing it? The type of stuttering I had before was very jerky and it was not caused by an FPS drop but now FPS Drops seem to be the cause of this dropping in League of Legends from 300+ down to 37.

Specs:
i7 6700k
MSI R7 370 GAMING 4G
Gigabyte GA-Z170X Gaming 3
Ripjaws V 2400 Mhz 8GB (2x4GB)
CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7
Power Supply: Corsair RM650

Solution
Well I / we think you should. Changing CPU's and not reinstalling windows is a bad idea.

You'll still have the chipset drivers from the old build and the the chipset drivers for the new build installed

And whatever drivers you installed for the AMD system

Did you also reinstall Windows when you upgraded your CPU? The issue may be software related and in order to test that out you want to get to a fresh state of software on your computer. You are technically required to purchase a new license when you make that type of upgrade because it is the same as buying a new computer. If you have a retail key Microsoft may be willing to work with you to activate Windows on your new hardware. If you bought an OEM key then you are solely responsible and Microsoft probably won't be so willing to work with you. You will likely be required to buy a new key if this is the case.

Updating the BIOS is a last resort. Don't do it until you have tried everything else. You could brick your motherboard if anything goes wrong.

updating your bios may fix an known issue with your board and speed up your GPUs connection through the PCIe slot (for example...could just as easily be a ram/cpu issue it fixes). It may not and thus the other advice about ensuring your card is in the primary GPU slot (many mobo's have one they say to populate first before using others)

Alright then i guess i'll try to update my BIOS and see if that helps, I'll report back when this is done hopefully nothing goes wrong.

If there is an obvious known issue with the bios then you should try updating it before doing it as a last resort I suppose but before updating take note of your bios version and see if it has the known problems. You need to be sure that that is the problem first.

Sorry for the long wait i played a match in CS:GO to test it. was able to Update it to F6 I did notice that in CS:GO there were var spikes when i moved my mouse. Has anyone experienced an issue like this? I have not been able to test in other games but i will get back to you guys ASAP.
*****EDIT*****
I went to testufo.com and it seems to display that when i move my mouse an FPS drop occurs, Does anyone know how i can fix this issue that seems to be mouse related?

I have never had this issue before, Not to say it's the CPU's fault but it only happened after installing today. The mouse has always worked fine and I checked for an update for the mouse (Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum) in the logitech gaming software.

No i did not re-install windows, I purchased windows 8.1 64 bit when i first built my PC and then did the free upgrade to Windows 10. Do you think maybe if i used the reset feature in windows that it could possibly help? I'd prefer to find a different solution first as i have really horrible internet where i live and re-installing windows and losing all my games and files would really be quite the setback for me.

And exactly how do i go about doing that? The only windows key i have is for Windows 8.1 and i used that a long time agao when i first installed windows on my PC. How can i go about re-installing windows and keeping windows 10? would this be the same as using the reset feature in the windows settings app?

So when windows asks for my product key this should work correct? sorry for noob question just want to be sure that it will go through 100% that way I'm not stuck with an empty PC haha.

If you installed 8 then upgraded to 10, the important thing is did it activate.

If it did you can do a clean install of 10, you can use the ISO if you download the mediacreation tool. This will install the Anniversary update. You'll need something like Rufus and a flash drive to extract the ISO to.

Or a blank DVD.

If the BIOS supports UEFI select it in Rufus before you extract the ISO. Once it finishes boot from the flash drive. Make it the bootdisk in the BIOS.

When you get to the window that asks for the key skip it. Continue till windows has been installed. Once it's online it should activate automatically

You can install Win10 as many times as you like (if you do a clean install). It'll still activate automatically, once you're online

Alright i'm pretty sure it did activate as i think i can recall entering my product key when i installed windows 8.1. I'll go ahead and give this a try and hopefully all goes well and i will report back to here when I am finished, And let's say worst case scenario that it wasn't able to activate windows what would happen to the OS? would i not be able to use it or would it jsut simply be marked down as an "Un-Activated" Copy?

I'm pretty sure it'll activate if it's activated now. Thats what should happen if you upgrade from win7 or 8. It carries that key to win10, once you upgrade

I've reformatted the other pc here (doing a clean install of win10), like 10 times after upgrading from win8. And it has always activated

If it shows its activated now / this pc / properties it'll activate
