best mobo/intel CPU for Radeon r9 390?

I recently got the radeon r9 390 gpu and need to upgrade my motherboard. While I'm at it, I'd like to also upgrade my CPU, so I'm considering trying to transition to intel for better future upgrade options while still using the r9 390.

My current specs:
ASRock 970 Extreme3
AMD FX-6200
AMD Radeon R9 390
16gb ram
1 ssd, 3 HDD

What would be the best mobo/intel cpu for the Radeon r9 390 in terms of most bang for my buck and future upgrade options?

Right now, a z170 mobo and a i5 6600k. Very strong i5, allows overclocking to extend usable life, ideal for gaming and driving strong gpus. You'll need ddr4 ram as well.

What you have now will do ok, but that fx6 is going to cause some issues in certain games.

Budget option would be i3 6100.
