Hello, thanks for checking out this thread. So last week i was given an old Intel core 2 duo e8500 along with a lga775 cpu cooler from a buddy for free, so like what most people would do when given a fully working piece of technology i went out to buy myself an Lga775 motherboard for this cpu (after looking up the socket for it). once i got the motherboard i put in the processor and continued on to go and put the cpu cooler on it and realized that this motherboard i bought does not have any mounting holes in it, well at least not in the normal places to mount it in. the motherboard i bought it the "Dell 200DY Optiplex 780 LGA775 DDR3 SDRAM Desktop Motherboard", the link to the exact one i bought will be down lower. but my question is, how am i going to be able to attatch the cpu cooler to this motherboard given that the holes are not in the right place? if anyone would know it would be greatly appreciated thank you very much.
