What's the most likely cause of code 00?

I don't have a lot of free time to systematically pull my computer apart, so was hoping I could be pointed to the most likely culprit.

System is:
ASUS Cross-hair V Formula Z
AMD FX-8350 black
32gb OCPC XXXtreme ram (matched set)
ASUS Strix R9-380 gpu
Samsung Evo 850 SSD for OS.
EVGA 850w psu

The system has been running fine for about two months, most recent hardware change was the psu, old one died.
There was nothing changed before the error, was running as per usual, I shut it down, went to work, approx 18 hrs later fired it up again, but no post, showed 00 code on board, tried restarting again, no joy.
I had to go to work again so couldn't do anything more.

Solution
did you plug back the 24 pins atx and the 8 with the 4 pins one on the board also does the part q-led show something since code 00 is not used page 1-31 to 1-36 of board user manual .

Yeah, I did see that thread, but it's not really clear what his cause was, I'll try clearing the CMOS when I get home, hopefully it is a simple fix like that and not a dead CPU as Scuzzycard suggested. If it doesn't work I'll have to make time to sit down and pluck out all my hardware so I can isolate what isn't working.

I do overclock it when gaming, I only run it out to about 4.6ghz, nothing too extreme as I only have air cooling, but on last use it was running on default settings.

Ok, I have an update.
I opened up the case this morning so I could check the cables and access the on-board controls and saw that the boot device led was lit up red, I hadn't seen this earlier as my cable management wraps the 24pin wires over the top, and case lighting hid the glow.

Seeing this, I unplugged everything, all USB peripherals, and all SATA drives, then powered on. It went to the Ámerican Megatrends'page and told me no keyboard was detected (progress!)

I reattached mouse & keyboard as well as my main drive, and powered on again, this time I got to BIOS, and with a boot override i got into Windows.

So...
GPU=OK
CPU=OK
RAM=OK
Wifi LAN card=OK
SSD=OK

The board is now showing the usual AA code, so I thought I would update this thread first, and while I've got a few minutes I'll reattach everything else one at a time, restarting after each to see what happens, then I'll update again with the result.

I can't mark this solved as I don't yet know if it's all working properly.

Ok, success!

I have found the cause.

I have two other SATA drives in my computer a 1tb WB black that I use for back-up and media storage, as well as an old 60gb SSD that used to be my main drive before Windows got too big, it has since been relegated to virtual memory duties.

Turns out it's this second SSD that was the cause, if I have it plugged in on boot-up I get a blue screen error message saying that the OS can't be accessed due to a missing file.

I now have everything plugged in except that SSD and the system runs perfectly.

I still don't understand how it prevented post, as it's not even part of the boot sequence, but I'm glad it was a cheap fix (wasn't looking forward to replacing my CPU).

That wasn't actually the solution, but checking the 24 pin led me to it, so I used that to mark the thread as solved :)
