150Mbps vs 300Mbps?

Solution

OK, so to put that in a physical world comparison.

You ride a bicycle with a max speed of 10mph. (download of 3.5Mbps and upload 0.47)
Does it matter if you are on a road with a 50mph speed limit (150Mbps ) or a road with a 100mph speed limit (300Mbps)?

No, it does not.

What is the speed you pay the ISP for?
Do you routinely connect to other devices on your internal LAN?
What are you using now?

I'm not exactly sure, but speedtest.net says I get a download of 3.5Mbps and upload 0.47?
No.
Wireless? iiNet?

So I only really need 150Mbps?

Correct.
A device with a higher speed rating would be beneficial if you were moving data back and forth across multiple devices on your LAN.
Since it is only the one device, 150 or 300 matters not.
