Alright, so with my GTX 970 not quite being able to max most games at 1440p 60+ FPS, I've been looking to upgrade my GPU. It's mostly a birthday gift from the wife, and she has "permitted" me to buy a GTX 1080. Well, I'm not rich, so ~$650 is very expensive for me, but I can buy it. However, after looking at the GTX 980 ti prices on NewEgg, I can get on of those for ~$420 and save ~$200.
I want to max everything including using DX12 (minus AA, who needs it at 1440p!?) I play everything from The Witcher 3, to World of Warcraft 25 man raids, to Ark Survival Evolved and everything in between, at of course 2560x1440. Will the GTX 980 ti do this with 60+ FPS? Now that the GTX 1080 benchmarks have been rolling in for a good month or two, can the 980TI be OC'd to 1080 stock performance? Or maybe instead go with a 1070 and OC? Or should I just leap into the 1080?
Also curious if my i5 4690K at 4.4 (on water) will be a bottleneck to either card (I intend to do a bit more OC on it today, cool at ~45C now so I figure I have some more room).
