So I'm building a new rig which already has 1 SSD and 1 HDD but without any OS installed.

The fact is that I want to format the SSD from my old cpu to move it to the new rig before I install the OS.

My question is, how can I format the SSD (from old rig) if it's my main one and can't do it via windows. Can I do it through BIOS or what?

I'd appreciate some guide on how to do it or something like that.

You're close. When you put the SSD in the new machine, connect only the SSD. This eliminates the possibility of accidentally erasing a different drive.

After you've finished installing to the SSD and have turned off the tower, you can then connect the other drives.
When you get the new system together, put only the SSD in. Boot to the install media of whatever Windows you will be installing, it will ask you to set up partitions. At which point, clear all the partitions, select the unallocated space and press Next. Windows installer will automatically set up partitions as needed.

Once you've installed to the SSD and the tower is turned off, insert the HDD.

During the OS install in the new PC.
When it asks 'where', select Custom.
You'll see a list of all existing partitions
Delete each, leaving one large space
Use that whole space for a single partition
Continue the install, letting Windows create what it needs.

Thanks for your quick answers guys.

I'm not sure If I did understand.

I can just grab the SSD with windows 7, connect it to the new rig wit the other storage units, then go for a normal format and there I can erase and install windows 7 again?

Mostly.
When you install the OS on this SSD, have only that SSD connected.
When you get into the install, it will ask 'where'.
See above for what to do.
