Hi everyone, how are you?? I hope all things are ok i want to make my second build and I have chosen i7-4790k as a CPU, however now I am not sure which motherbored is the most appropriate in terms of the price and performance. Should i have an unlocked motherboard such as GA-Z97 or that which is not unlocked such as GA-H97 and I heard that there are problems with unlocked motherboards and processors and they need a pro user who can use them. Is that right and if not what do you advise me to do ?
Thanks sirs

Solution
About 10% performance difference.
Not worth it if you're not into overclocking.
It all depends on your budget, for rendering you'll want an i7 though! :)
A H110M board is what you want on a budget, B150 at a slightly higher price point, H170 for midrange and Z170 for high end overclocking.

If you choose a K series processor you need a Z type Board. K means its a overcloable cpu. SO its just a waste of money and performance to buy a overclock able cpu an not buy a overclocking motherboard. Overclocking isnt hard, iv seen 10 year olds how to do it. Plus you have trusty youtube.
But if you plan overclocking youll need something better then the stock cpu cooler that comes with that cpu. Like the CRYORIG H7.

Thanks guys for answers but there is a big drop in prices and what is the difference between 4th and 6th generation?
My main purpose will be rendering. Will i need that unlocked property????
If I take I7-6700 which isn't unlocked which motherboard do you suggest

OK guys I chose I7-6700. I have read that it supports DDR4 1866/2133 but I haven't read that it supports 2400 or higher. What does it mean??? Can't I use 2400 MHz or higher

I believe it completely depends on the motherboard, intels site also says the i5 6600K takes 2133mhz ram but it can take a lot more depending on what motherboard u happen to get.
