Just completed a build, and made sure I had every connector corrected. Everything is assumed ready, so I plug my PSU into the wall to power the system, but when I did... Nothing happened. Previous, I had tested the PSU with the paper clip test, and is working. When I turned the switch to turn on the computer, no fan or LED indicated any power at all, not even the PSU fan spun. Could the problem be my motherboard?

Here are the specs if these matter.
I3-6100
Sentey 725W PSU
Crucial 8 GB RAM 2400 MHz single channel 1.2b
Seagate 1TB HHD (used)
GTX 780ti SC (used)

Help and advice would be appreciated please.

Solution
With both 24 and 4/8 pin power cables connected to the motherboard and power supply turned on, try starting the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the motherboard corresponding to the case power button (check the board's manual for correctly locating them). See if starting.

A couple of really dumb things worth checking:

- Are the case switches connected correctly to the motherboard power headers?
- Is the switch on the back of the PSU turned to "on," and is it set to the correct voltage (120/240) if applicable?

If these are OK, another thing you might try is connecting the power switch to the reset pins on the header, and the reset switch to the power pins, then see if pressing the reset switch turns on the machine. Once in a great while you will get a case where something is wrong with the power switch itself.

I do not think the most likely thing is for the motherboard to be dead out of the box, unless something happened to make you think it might be damaged.

Another thing to note, that my motherboard displayed no LED or beep that during the whole process, even when I was sure all pin connections were secured. I think this might be why I think the motherboard is dead. I'll try your suggestions after my classes and see if it helps.
