My parents were saying that their pc was running kinda slow so i decided to upgrade their Dell Inspiron 560 from an e5400 dual core to a q9550 quadcore Lga775. Everything works perfectly fine but every few hours the PC will completely restart(as if i pulled the plug and plugged it back in). It isn't a heat problem because i installed speedfan and the temps are normal and its not the power supply as I just replaced it and its not bsod either. Help Please

Did you reinstall windows when you upgraded? If not, that is a HUGE red flag right there. ALWAYS Reinstall OS when replacing CPU, motherboard, or both. Also what power supply do you have?

Just out of curiosity, why should we reinstall OS after installing a new CPU? I had an old system in which I upgraded my CPU to E8400 from E5300 and there was definitely performance improvement without the need of reinstalling Windows.
