Can I cut down this build?

Hey,

I've created a build on PCPartPicker, with help from experts on this site of course, because I couldn't have done it myself. I'm just wondering, can I cut down the price without extremely affecting the performance or anything? I am new to PC building, so I'm not completely sure what I can do with it.

Prices are in CAD. Thanks.

No real difference between this and yours performance wise. Anything you were tied to i changed can be put back saved you a good chunk though. And everything is still good quality

Not a huge performance difference, but about $200 cheaper.

Are you dead set on being able to overclock the CPU? If not, you can switch the 6600K to a 6500, remove the water cooler, and drop the motherboard down to an H170 instead of a Z170. This should save you quite a bit. As the other user pointed out, the PSU is overpriced - their choice of the Seasonic S12II 520W is a great choice. And you can of course downgrade the case, but this is the only real aesthetic you'll see so I'd go with one that (a) is quieter and (b) looks nicer to you so long as it's not too much more difficult to work with. Most cases these days are pretty simple to work on and we no longer need to worry about sharp edges.

One thing I would suggest you spend more time looking into is your speaker configuration. PC speakers are generally a category of awful speakers and the $15 Logitech are going to be some of the worst offenders, just behind Creative. These are not audio companies - ask yourself what you'd expect from, say, a Toyota branded keyboard. That's what I expect from a Logitech/Creative branded set of speakers.

I suppose I don't need to overclock. But I also like a lot of speed, and the 6500 provides less. Will there be a large difference between it and the 6600k?

So are you proposing that I get a 980ti?

No, it's just when benchmarking CPUs in games, they use the strongest GPU available, to remove the GPU as the limiting factor as much as possible, a 1060 may hit its limit before the CPU hits its limit.
