Gigabyte Z77X-UP5TH saves but doesn't apply BIOS overclocking settings

I need help overclocking my system.

I have a Sandy Bridge core i7-2600k with Gigabyte z77x-up5 TH motherboard. I changed the multiplier in the BIOS and it saves successfully, but when looking in CPUZ or even the bios summary page, the speed doesn't change at all. I tried changing individual core turbo speeds too but nothing seems to change it. It's weird that the bios successfully saves the values though. Other bios settings seems to work like system date, enabling/disabling C states, etc. Just the overclocking settings don't seem to do anything. The only setting that seems to actually change the speed is changing BCLK.

However, if I use the Intel Extreme Tuning tool or Gigabyte's Easy Tune 6, it seems to work. I'd prefer not to use those and set it up via the BIOS however.

Thanks for any help.

Well, I figured it out. After reading some stuff online, I flashed to an older BIOS (from F12 back to F11) and that fixed it. I can now see the settings being applied. Seems like the latest BIOS update is messed up.
