I just picked up an MSI R9 390 GAMING 8G. My existing card is an EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Dual Superclocked w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Part # 02G-P4-3765-KR. I feel the MSI card is a no brainer, however when i put it in the computer and set the card to OC mode, it causes the computer to crash during gameplay, but works fine on gaming mode in the MSI Gaming App. I have not had the chance to overclock my rig yet, but i have built it with plans to overclock it (I am using MSI OC Genie for a 4.2 auto clock). Would I be better off overclocking the 760 or keeping the 290 GAMING 8G in Gaming mode (1040mhz) Is there a way to fix the OC mode crashing and if not can this card still be overclocked manually? Is it even necessary on that card. Also itunes crashes during use of the Gaming app?

Solution
You shouldn't need a reason to oveclock your gtx760.
Unless you're fps is pretty bad in certain games.
Also check the temperatures closely while your gpu is over clocked.
Check which max tempatures it will handle.
If I'm right 70degrees at best is what it will handle before you start crashing.
