Computer not recognizing new CPU

I just updated my CPU to a FX 8320 from a FX 6100 and for some reason my task manager and dxdiag are both saying that my CPU is still the 6100. The computer is booting and running fine I was just curious as to why the new CPU wasn't being detected properly. HWMonitor does detect that it is the 8320 however.

Specs:
Mobo: GA-970A-UD3 (does support the CPU and BIOS is updated)
CPU: AMD FX 8320
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7950
OS: Windows 10

I saw other threads with this same kind of issue and people were just saying to not worry about it if the computer is running, but it I find it strange nonetheless and was wondering if there was a way to get it to properly detect my CPU. I had a friend that also mentioned when there is a Windows 10 update that it checks for hardware/new hardware and it might update when that happens.

Any help and responses are appreciated.

I don't see the FX-8320 in the drop down list of available Reference CPUs in CPU-Z.

See this thread: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/930861

It also applies to Windows 10.

My Windows is currently up to date otherwise I would. And I'm hoping that I don't have to reformat or something of that nature in order for it full recognize it as my internet is pretty bad so downloading all the games I play would take quite a while.

I'm also curious if, even though Windows doesn't detect that it's a new CPU, my computer will utilize the new CPU to its full potential and not only use, say 6 cores instead of the 8 because it still thinks it's the 6100.

Since Windows dispatches threads to logical processors based upon what it detects is available then only six of the eight logical cores of the FX-8350 will be used.

Have you tried forcing a Scan for hardware changes on the Processors device in Device Manager?

Use CPU-Z and run Bench CPU. After the Bench CPU has completed then select the Reference AMD FX(tm)-8350 Processor @ 4.00 GHz (4M/8T) from the drop down list. Compare your results to the Reference.

Scanning for hardware changes didn't fix anything unfortunately. CPU-Z also shows the 8320 for my CPU.

http://prntscr.com/c66uxe (For some reason the picture thing didn't work nor did the link one)

This it what it looks like for me, not sure what to do with the information. Also keep in mind I have the 8320 not the 8350 and you can't seem to reference the 8320 with CPU-Z.

Would reformatting guarantee fixing the problem? Or is their still a chance it will for some reason show the 6100?

Oh wow, thank you so much. That did the trick. I didn't get that thread via google with whatever terms I was using so that's unlucky. But yeah that fixed it. I was actually going to ask (I don't like trying things before knowing exactly what they can do) if uninstalling the processor from device manager would do anything.

So thank you very much, I appreciate the help!
