I am looking for a graphics card. I do a lot of 1080p video editing, and a lot of 1080p gaming. What would be a good graphics card for doing a lot of video editing and a lot of gaming? Keep in mind I want to spend less than $300.

I do a lot of 1080 60fps video editing and agree that a rx-480 or gtx-1060 would work just fine. Keep in mind that video editing also uses the cpu. You want a strong cpu.

Some video editing workstations being sold have a gtx-1070 with a i7-6700 or i7-6800. Gtx-1070 is overkill for 1080 gaming however.

Either an Nvidia 1060 or an AMD 480 are both great options and will be able to handle the load you'll put on them. If you wanted to add a little to your budget, you could go with a 1070 but unless you're trying to edit upwards of 1080p, do 3D-remodeling or trying to stream your game sessions on twitch you're fine with a 1060.
