Hi guys, I wanted to know if it was possible to build a pc for around 1400 CAD with a gtx 1070 that performs well without any bottlenecks with the components :)
P.S: I can add a little more for a good monitor!

Thank you :)

Solution

ASUS VP228H is worth to consider 60Hz 1ms. A bit cheaper but BenQ looks fantastic and 120GB SSD might not be enough

Since the 1070 is a solid 1440p performer, the monitor I picked is based on the fact that the 1400CAD is just not enough for both a good 1440p screen and a good 1440p build; the strong possibility that in a few years time, a 24" 1440p screen for cheap would be more common and out of my personal preference to have same size monitors setup.

I can do much better than that...
Don't go 1440p 60Hz, 1080p 144hz is much better.
It requires you to go $67 over budget, but you can get a 1080p 144hz monitor along with 16GB of RAM, and a better value power supply.

Yeah getting there by going with the cheapest motherboard from the king of cutting corner, ASROCK... that's a sure recipe for disaster if he were to hammer that system with gaming/recording and then video editing/transcoding to upload...

And did you just say the tier2 S12II is better than the tier1 SuperNOVA G2?

1. The AsRock motherboard is currently $25 off if my memory serves me correctly.
It is a good value budget option for Skylake builds, I have nothing against AsRock and have had no issues with their products in the past, nor have I heard any complaints from customers. (I run my own business)
They do not cut corners on their products, although a few models have been known to be poor quality in the past. This is not one of them. Usually goes for about 65-80 CAD and is one of the more mid range H110M motherboards.
Normally if this particular board was not on sale I would have gone for this fyi: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/hMvZxr/gigabyte-motherboard-gah110ma
2. I did not say that it was better than the G2, I said that it was better value while maintaining a high quality standard.
It is made by Seasonic, one of the top OEMs for power supplies, and is very good quality, almost rivalling the G2.
DO NOT refer to that power supply list as gospel, it is not entirely accurate, and is an oversimplification of the more complex factors that determine a good quality power supply such as ripple, voltage regulation and capacitors used.
