CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($397.98 @ DirectCanada) (I like the blue box and have no intention of overclocking for now)
CPU Cooler: Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 74.3 CFM CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Amazon Canada) (why would someone even have a red LED cooler. Like cooler suppose to cool your pc not make it looks hot)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 Ultra ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($184.99 @ NCIX) (the only blue lol)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($179.99 @ Newegg Canada) (32 GB is overkill but I will also do some rendering/editing and future proofing is not bad)
Storage: Sandisk Ultra II 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($170.24 @ Amazon Canada) (black and red but I can remove the stickers, EVO would go over my price range)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($119.98 @ DirectCanada) (sadly is metallic white)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1080 8GB STRIX Video Card ($927.50 @ Vuugo)
Case: BitFenix Neos ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ BestDirect) (not much blue cases available with large window to see inside)
Power Supply: Raidmax 630W Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($64.99 @ Newegg Canada) (would go for EVGA and Corsair but they have no blue LED or am I missing something)
Optical Drive: Asus BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer ($72.55 @ Vuugo) (I burn OSes to disks and having a bray drive is nice)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($115.95 @ shopRBC) (even Windows OS is blue :D)
Software: Microsoft Office Home and Student 2016 Software ($137.99 @ PC Canada)
(might get OpenOffice instead to save money on an EVO SSD)
Monitor: Asus VG248QE 24.0" 144Hz Monitor ($357.98 @ DirectCanada) (sadly the bezel is not blue)
Other: Xbox One Wireless Adpater ($29.99)
Other: Xbox One Dusk Shadow SE Controller ($74.95) ($100 for a controller ikr?)
Other: OKGEAR 18" SATA 6 Gbps Cable, Straight to Right Angle W/Metal Latch, UV Blue, Backward Compatible with 3 Gbps and 1.5 Gbps ($7.99)
Other: OKGEAR 18" SATA 6 Gbps Cable, Straight to Right Angle W/Metal Latch, UV Blue, Backward Compatible with 3 Gbps and 1.5 Gbps ($7.99) (the cable is blue, not sure how it will look inside with all those lights, might get a solid blue cable instead of transparent blue)

...and then after building I get a BSOD because blue

Solution
Here's a final revision of your build. This is what i would get for myself in the impossible case where i would ever care about teh colors inside my case :)
All excellent components. Take this into serious consideration before you byte the bullet, as i'm gonna have to get out of here and ergo will not be further reinforcing my points. Good luck dexxterlab97!

Both gaming and productivity so I can benefit from high RAM. Do I need to get 300MHz to sacrifice for less RAM?

If it's also for productivity, then I can see why you'd want 32GB.

I revise my former reply. Looks good.

I like the color scheme. What I hate about MSI and Asus is the idea of "You're a gamer, so the only good components we're going to make for you are going to be red and black."

3000MHz will make a difference in games, but it'll be small unless the game is especially CPU intensive.

If you're trying to stay under $3,000 CAD, then I think it's near perfect the way it is.

No. Go for capacity.

Yeah. So when your computer overheat it will blend in with the red scheme. Smart move.

Ok. thanks. Sadly 64 GB of RAM doesn't come in blue

Xbox controller looks good. Those shiny equipment. I woulldn't wanna go for an expensive build and then having a controller noone heard of. It's like spending on a 1080 Ti while having AMD cpu on your build

I guess, although it doesn't really work in that regard. :)
A wired 360 controller will serve the same purpose for cheaper, but I suppose its a personal preference.
I'm nearly done with your build, i've just swapped in some better performance components.
No point going for a 1080p 144hz monitor with a GTX 1080, go 1440p! ;)

Several thing about your build:
- first and foremost get a G-Sync monitor(use a free alternative to MS Office for the price diff.)
- blue as it may be, do not put that crappy PSU in such a build. are you even serious about that PSU?
- why not get a blueray writer for less cash than that reader?
- [strike]i you can go above teh budget, [/strike]get an i7 6700k if you are paying 180 bucks for an overclocking motherboard, no? just saying :)
EDIT: I see that teh price diff towards the 6700k is negligeable. It's a no-brainer to get it, even if you will not overclock, for the better stock speeds. build updated accordingly.

That's true, but we don't know if Zen might be able to compete completely with Intel Skylake.

I do agree though, having a controller makes racing games so much easier. It's nice to have an analogue stick where a little left is a little left and all the way left is all the way left. I don't like a keyboard where you press A or Left Arrow and you're maxing out your steering to the left.

Any blue (blue LED) PSU recommendation?

I've included a better cooler, an unlocked i7 CPU, and a much better SSD.
Also @Hlsglz, G-Sync is useless at 1080p 144hz, because with a 1080 you'll be maxing stuff out at over 100fps in 99% of games anyway. Even then I would only recommend getting G-Sync at 1440p.
I would recommend saving up and getting the Dell S2716DG for this reason.
Honestly, if you just ditched the blue color scheme you could get much better value for money....

Better like that. And do consider G-Sync. Our friend Chugalug_ has never experienced adaptive sync technology, i suspect. It's a must for such a build.

Do he does have a very valid point about going to 27" 1440p 144hz and G-sync with a Dell S2716DG. you would have a much better time gaming, and the build can really take it.

For that much money I'd want a better PSU than the S12ii 620W. One based on a more modern design and also fully modular.

You could go for 1440 even wihtout renouncing your build's theme. You will have a much better time wiht a 1070 at 1440p and G-sync then you would wiht a 1080 on a mere 24" 1080p wihtout g-sync.

Don't put sata SSDs in m.2 slots as they will not perform any better than their 2.5" counterparts. Keep those for when NVMe drives come down in price to an acceptable level.

Solution

WD Blue :D
but why not 7200rpm. ok nvm there is no wd blue at 7200rpm with that much storage

Yeah, was trying to keep it as close to budget as possible, the G2 would have been the next step up. :)

I might get an extra 1TB 7200rpm for games while keeping the 5400 for storage. Not sure if SSD can handle all of it.
