I am connecting my TZ 300 directly to laptop via LAN port but I am unable to access it via web portal, i am using a crossover cable tested and can confirm it is working correctly, I have put the laptop on the same subnet as the default IP for the firewall.
According to Dell the default IP is 192.168.168.168

I have set a static IP on the laptop etc shown below:
IP: 192.168.168.20
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.168.168

I am also unable to detect the device using Dell's setup Tool.

Make sure you have reset the device to factory settings. Generally you are in big trouble when it does not respond to that ip after you reset it. Now be sure to read the reset procedure one just wipes the config and the other load a default firmware.

You could also try to use the console port to see what that says.

I have attempted to factory reset the device multiple times but the test light does not appear to turn on at any stage, I followed instructions from Dell and instructions from various guides online. Could the device be faulty? It shouldn't be this difficult to set up a firewall, surely.

If I remember correctly the one that resets everything is you hold the button and then power it on. If you have a console cable you can see the boot messages even when you can not get into the device. You might see a indication of a problem. Still in most cases if the wipe the firmware reset does not fix it you likely have a dead device.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a console cable at the moment. Yes you are correct that method should reset everything.
I think the device is dead. Thank you very much for your help anyway.
