With my new Motherboard of the Socket 1151 kind, I'm thinking of the i7-6700K. Is the extra £70 worth it from the i5 6600? Will I see better performance and longevity from the i7 than from the i5? Which one should I get?

Solution
Whether the i7 is worth the extra money depends primarily on your anticipated work load. If you are looking to use your computer for gaming along with web surfing, and other light duties then the i5 is probably your best choice. Most modern games are unable to use the extra threads on the i7 so there is little difference in performance between the two chips. The i7 is a better choice if you are planning to do moderate to heavy levels of video editing or if you are a student needing to run design software like AutoCAD.

it depends on what you plan to do with the CPU, if its strickly for gaming purposes then you wont see much difference between the 2 so I wouldn't say its worth the Extra money. also if you're getting the I7-6700k is your motherboard a Z170 motherboard? if not then don't get the K version as it wont be able to overclock :)

what motherboard did you have? if you want that 6700K better pair that CPU with Z170 based chipset motherboard. performance wise 6700K will be a bit faster (most likely not noticeable in games) with the ability to OC in the future. if you have no intention to OC at all then just take that 6600.

From these other replies, I think the i5 will fill out my gaming purposes. The only problem is, who do I give best answer to? You've all said nearly the same thing.

give it to whoever you feel answered your question the best, the selection of best answer isn't just for us to get points its for people with the same question to see so they don't have to ask the forums themselves :)
