Needing a solid upgrade from my GTX 660.

So recently got an ultrawide monitor with g-sync 3440x1440. My current card I find is unable to make the most of it so I'm after a solid upgrade which drive this monitor properly in-game. Ideally I want it to be quiet too.
Rig:
i7-950 @ 3.8GHz
12GB RAM
550W PSU

My budget is about £200 but its a flexible figure, I'd rather get best bang for my buck even if means an extra £50.

Thanks to both of you. filippi the site you recommended I noticed offers pretty reasonable credit so a 1070 would be affordable afterall https://www.cclonline.com/product/211064/GTX-1070-ARMOR-8G-OC/Graphics-Cards/MSI-Nvidia-GeForce-GTX-1070-ARMOR-8G-OC-8GB-Graphics-Card-GDDR5-3-x-DisplayPort-HDMI-DVI/VGA3502/

I have some follow up questions. I'm using an old board Asus PX58D-E which is limited to PCIe - 2.0 (x16). So I'm curious would this severely throttle performance of a new card?

Roughtly PCIe 2.0 @ x16 is = PCIe 3.0 x8.
I still did not see any serious complain about PCIe 3.0 x8 performance so i would not worry about that.
The MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR 8GB would be the gpu i would buy for 1440p gaming so yeah good for you :D
My only concern would be if your oced i7-950 will have enough juice for the games you want play. Time will tell you that i think.
