That's not how it works. All major game settings must be done in game (or geforce experience after running the game at least once), DO NOT FIDDLE WITH THE CONTROL PANEL SETTINGS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
The easiest way is to simply run the game once, then open geforce experience (if you don't have it just download the newest driver from the nvidia website) and after the games list loads just press optimize for each game.

In addition to what basroil said, NGE really only works well if your monitor refreshes @60hz, tried it on my 144hz and it kept the games around 60 which was annoying for FPS. There is this guide which should help you setup NCP but it will be different for every game and will take a bit of time to tweak each game.
