I've got this MB: MSI P6NGM
As far as i can see, it will only support 4gb...

And what is the best bang for the buck cpu to go with it?

My htpc currently has the radeon hd 5770. Later I will consider a better low profile gpu. But for now its the cpu thats holding back

The CPU, RAM, and chipset all tie in to what makes a motherboard specific. If it says it only allows up to 4gb, then it only allows up to 4gb. I would double check the mobo manual to see if that is at a 32 bit or 64 bit. By default, 32 bit CPUs support a maximum of 4gb. So it depends on the CPU architecture and the board specs. If you can't find anything then the mobo only supports 4gb. Upgrading your CPU won't allow your system to add more RAM, it will just make processing and caching a little faster.

I've got the MS-7366 P6NGM
And I cant find anything stating other than max 4gb ram, and I dont think a CPU upgrade will do much difference either if the MB has a 4gb limit?
Cause I've also heard that sometimes the ram limitations is due to the CPU...
