Mass storage device vs ext hd

Hello, i have 3 identical external hard drives i use through usb. 2 of them are shown as "Ext HDD" while one is listed as "Mass storage device". I would like to set it as EXt HD too. In Mass storage it seems to be going to sleep mode regularly.

It's not something you should worry about, anything using the standard mass storage drivers will show up as such. If drives sleeping is that detrimental to your use, just disable it in the power settings (will disable sleep for all drives)

Thanks for the reply Basroil. Additionnaly, the one listed as HD seems to use another driver "Innostor Ext. HDD USB Device" and the Mass storage device is just "Disk drive"

1) Does it matter what USB connections you use?

2) I have a Seagate 4TB USB drive and it would NOT turn off initially, but then I found software from the Seagate sight that I ran which updated the firmware inside the unit. After that it would go into STANDBY MODE.

Check and see if there is a piece of software that allows you to modify this.

3) *I thought drives entered STANDBY based on the POWER SETTINGS you assigned. I set mine to 20 minutes, so if any HDD isn't used for 20 minutes it goes into standby.

So go into your POWER SETTINGS and see what it's set to.

1) No i have all 3 drives on the same usb3 hub.

2) I'll check that.

3) Already fixed this, USB mass storage didn't use the hard drive setting but has a dedicated one.

One of the problems is that this drive lists under a separate line in the usb eject tool so i have to do it twice.
