I bought and built my own desktop PC about a year ago and have never been able to connect to, or use WiFi networks. This has not been a problem for me since I have been using ethernet cables until now. Now I can't get an ethernet cable all the way to my desktop PC, but there is a good wifi network. As I have understood the situation my computer that I have built simply does not have a wifi function which I think is kind of weird.
I have always had wifi on all my devices, but now when I build my own PC I don't.
Is it an issue of me not having the right hardware or just driver issues?
And if it is a hardware issue what is the cheapest/easiest fix?

Thank you so much for the help! :D

You did not buy a wifi card to put in your computer, its as simple as that.
Your other, pre-made, devices had wifi because they installed a wifi card in it.

What are you using your computer for?
Wired Ethernet is far superior to wifi so would need to know what your needs are before could actually recommend a product

Telling the OP to "run a cable" when they explicitly say that's not an option is hardly helpful.

Sverker, while a USB adapter may be the cheapest, I'd recommend you get something like this or this if you have an available PCIe slot. USB adapters can be very spotty on desktops since they typically get plugged into the back, behind the metal case, which limits their reception. An exterior antenna that can be moved to provide better signal and network speeds is very helpful. The Gigabyte model I linked actually has a magnetic base on its antenna so you can mount it on your computer case in any way you want.

Those also have removable mini cards on them, meaning you can replace the and upgrade the wireless card in the future if you like.
