I have a dell precision t3500 with 6 x2 gb pc3 10700 by hyundai electronics. I just ordered 12GB [3x4GB] DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) ECC Registered Rank 2 RAM . My question is will these two work together, if I replace some of the 2gb sticks with the new 4gb sticks? Both kinds of memory have the same clock speed however I believe that mixing two kinds will cause them to run in single channel as opposed to triple channel (assuming they work together). Would this hybrid 18gb setup in single channel be better or worse than a 12gb setup in triple channel with all the same type of memory?
