Need help asap! Which hard drive to choose?!?

I'm customizing an HP Envy 15t for college. I will play games on this laptop, watch movies, and run various Mechanical Engineering programs such as CAD. I am stuck on which hard drive to choose though, I can choose between 1tb 5400ram Sata with 256 gb M.2 SSD or 512gb Pcle NVMe M.2 SSD for an extra $80 which one should I choose? To get the most out of my laptop.

The first prerequisite is that your unit has support for m.2 as well as additional storage devices. If not then you'll probably need to sacrifice your optical drive and it's bay and utilize an SSD caddy to drop in a conventional 2.5" SSD into your laptop while the 1TB HDD can go into your existing space for where your HDD is. That being said you will need to share your unit's SKU so as to get a confirmatory suggestion.

^Going by the image above, it seems like you can drop in a 2280 variant of M.2 SSD's.
