as the title says, ive pretty much given up on it but lightning hit and our power shut out immediatly and took our router with it as well as my moms power supply(and possibly fried other things, havnet checked yet) on her computer and my ethernet port on my motherboard. any idea on what to get? i was thinking either a pci or pci express netword card(not the wifi ones, im on the opposite end of the house), which would offer better speeds? im on a 120 megabit down 15 up connection so im not sure which rout i should go. also is it possible that it ruined some of our ethernet cables as well?

What mobo? Also how many devices are connected to the router (# of cabled devices and # of wireless). Also do you have a budget, need some info to work with. I doubt if the need is there to spend as much as mentioned above ;) AM about willing to bet the router above is the highest rated at NewEgg, the Nighthawk is a good one, played with one last December ( a friend was writing a review) but a bit of overkill pricewise for most people
First thing to do is shut down everything on the network ... and leave it off for 30 minutes. Then connect 1 PC directly to the modem. Start the modem, wait 5 minutes and start up the PC. Use network troubleshooter if you don't connect. Check device manager and see if it seen your NIC, check driver. Rinse and repeat for all other PCs.

As for replacing router ... this is what we currently recommend

If your ports are blown on MoBo, would suggest an NIC of same brand just so thy can't blow you off and blame the other thing when you call TS.

sorry i was gone for awhile, we got a replacement router from comcast and i got everything setup and working now(using crappy wireless adapter for the pc currently). just need a network card for this pc and it should be good to go. and for the budget id like something cheap but that will do the job and not bottleneck my current connection down/up speeds, $50 and under however i could go more. my motherboard is a msi gaming z87 g45. https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/Z87-G45-GAMING.html#hero-specification im having trouble as to which NIC to get on amazon. im on windows 10 if that matters
