Accidentally connected IDE hdd while running

Hi,
First turn off the computer, then attach the HDD to anthoer SATA-pug n the moherboard
Start.
If You really will check, you need another computer, perhaps borrow som computer time from a friend?
Then unmount the HDD, connect it to a similar USB > to IDE adapter http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAA0C3PA9645&cm_re=USB_ide_adapter-_-9SIAA0C3PA9645-_-Product
