Hello,

I will probably buy myself a Phanteks Evolv ATX case for my next build and I am wondering how to set up my fans for the best airflow.

I have read about positive and negative pressure and would like to have slightly positive pressure in order to keep more dust outside of the case. My idea was to use 3x120mm intake fans in the front (according to be quiet! more airflow than 2x140mm), 1x140mm exhaust fan at the top (rear side) and 1x140mm exhaust fan at the rear. So that's 3x120mm intake and 2x140mm exhaust. I would swap the pre-installed ones with the new be quiet! Silent Wings 3 series (PWM). I will use a traditional air cooler (be quiet! Dark Rock 3 in push-pull configuration) for my CPU. My PSU will be installed at the bottom of the case (fan facing down) and my graphics card will be air-cooled.

Many people use 2x140mm exhaust fans at the top, but I am afraid that the first top fan would take away air from the CPU cooler.

What are your opinions about this fan setup? Would you use a different configuration (more/less/other fans)?

Thank you

More airflow don't always mean better temps and your temps would be just fine without all the fans. If all your parts are already running in the safe zone then your really gaining nothing. Your CPU cooler is just going to turn fast enough to keep it in the safe zone and the same as your video card so the...

Thanks for your reply! I know there probably isn't "need" for more fans, but wouldn't the airflow/temps be at least slightly better? The Silent Wings were always very quiet in my previous builds, so I would sacrifice a bit of silence for better temps and airflow.

I have my AIO on the front as an intake, two fans as exhaust on top and one exhaust at the back.

People will say I shouldn't use the AIO on the front but that simple fact is the Evolv ATX's roof isn't the best so heat just builds up above the AIO if placed there. My CPU temps dropped 10C when I moved it to the front.

My main point is try not to worry about the roof too much as it doesn't have a great affect in my experience. Priorities are intake at the front and exhaust on the rear!

Motherboard temps never seen a problem unless your running a poor AMD chipset, memory no problems the heat sink on todays memory is just for looks and not even needed, drives never seen a problem. I run a 90mm on my drives just because I have 3 stacked on top of each other and do read on 1 and write to 1 at the same time sometimes.
