I was in the middle of a game when my computer just shut down no blue screen or anything like someone pulled the plug or a power outage. When I checked on my computer every thing was plugged in and power strip was still on but computer was off. When I tried to turn it back on nothing happened. But I did smell something and don't think it was a good smell. I took off my side panel too see if I could find something wrong. There was no smoke but still the smell I felt around my CPU and GPU both were pretty cool also check HDD also cool. Then I checked my PSU and was pretty hot then I thought it had burned up but when I looked all my USB port were getting power. Tried turning on and off PSU made its sound then tried the power button and for a split second LEDs on fans and power button flashed but the computer stayed off. Pls help

EDIT:
PC Specs:
MSI R7 250
FX-6300
8Gb ddr3
1Tb WD HDD
400w PSU

The computer has ran fine about two years and I have not changed anything.

psu lose output while time passes, so you should check what's your tdp and what's the max psu's tdp.

if you smell something bad but the pc still works it's probably the psu or one of the cables. in that case it's dangerous to use it and it should be changed.

also, try to clean the pc from the dust with compressed air. In summer it helps a lot with the temperatures and if it's a security shutdown due to high temps, it'll probably solve the problem.

The pc does not turn on any more and the smell seemed to come from the PSU but the USB LEDs mouse keyboard etc are still powered. But if the PSU has lost voltage would it going from fully
Working to not able to turn on computer with only one shut down.
