First off, I want to say "hi" to everyone. I couldn't find a thread for that, so I put it here.

Also, please forgive me for any mistake I will probably make with the grammar, since it's not my first language.

To the topic:
I bought, several years ago (probably late 2009), a prebuilt packard bell pc with oem windows license. This little guy is a iExtreme m5740.
I upgraded many things in the following years, but none of them required to change the psu (that still works for reasons that I don't understand, since I should be over its maximum wattage but you know, *magic*).

However, now I want to upgrade the vga (again) and the new one requires a better psu. I looked at what I have and it's this: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Delta-DPS-250AB-22-Desktop-Computer/dp/B00UMBUMS2 (in the second picture you can see the specifications).

It leaves me a bit... scared. I'm pretty sure that it has almost no safeguards (and I wonder how I survived until today) so I want to change it. The problem is that some manufacturer decided to create custom motherboards that can't be paired with normal atx psu, so I would like to know if it's my case or if I can freely do what I want.

If the answer is positive, here are the specifications of my pc with the new video card that I'm going to buy so that you can have an idea of the wattage:

core I7 860
4x2gb ram ddr3 1333 MHz
motherboard -> Idk. cpu-z says packard bell fmp55 (chipset intel DMI host bridge rev11, southbridge intel p55 rev05, lpcio ITE IT8720)(edit: it uses pci-e 1.1 16x)

the new graphic card: asus strix gtx 960 2gb (choosen after a long evaluation based on the space in the case, the tdp, the performance and my money)
ssd samsung 840 pro
2x WD hdd (1 7200rpm, 1 5400rpm green)
2 fans 80mm
standard keyboard and mouse
dvd recorder
wifi pci extra card

The total tdp should be around 250-260w. What should I buy? (I don't have a big budget, I'm already doing a sacrifice to buy that vga used). Thanks.

Max 60 euros, transport fee included.

To be honest I already gave a look to a couple of psus, but I'm not sure about the connectors and all the other things. I also just found that my mb has a pci-e 1.1, but a gtx 960 shouldn't have problems anyway.

Well, I opened the pc before and I remember that all the pins on the main connector were used. If we consider that the "stupid psu" has a 24 pin connector then the mb has the same... Also I remember that there were a couple of spots for 4-pin connectors, but only 1 was used.

The point is that I was roaming around the internet and stumbled upon a thread here in this forum where someone was discussing about choosing psus and found that his dealer used a proprietary tecnology for the mb, so that even if the main connector had 24 pins, they were mapped in a different way and were then incompatible with the atx standard.

Yes that is possible. If you can find your motherboard model, you can research if others have had success with OEM PSUs

Seems I can't find the manual or anything. But I also can't find anyone saying that there are problems with a new psu, so I suppose it's ok to change it.

To SR-71: about the one you linked, I can't find anything about its 12V output... also I was reading that I need to stay around 50% of the wattage to obtain maximum efficiency, so wouldn't be better a 550w?

@everyone: do all the psus fit the case if they are in the right format? I ask this since I see the old one claims to be ATX but then the ones you're suggesting me have different dimensions...

what about this one? https://www.amazon.it/Quiet-System-Power-Alimentatore-500W/dp/B018ILWI52
