Air Cooling vs Water Cooling, Not Seeing A Big Difference

I know I will probably get a few diehards here for either option, but I have to say I have yet to see bench mark tests that sell me on water cooling. I am building a new system and currently am doing my homework on cooling since I want my build to be pretty close to damn good. So I have been watching videos upon videos on benchmarks on both setups and I have noticed that water cooling, be it a all in one system or custom, doesn't seem to be worth the money.

When I watch these videos I expect to see something that costs $100+ on the low end to $1,000+ on the high end blow me away, no pun intended, yet all I see is a difference of 5-10 degrees over a $30 Hyper 212 Evo.

Something I have to say is that I noticed in 90% of the videos I have watched, have mounted radiators in the top of the systems. Not only does this restrict the over all air flow of the system since you have a more restrictive exhaust system, but when you consider thermal dynamics and the general fact that hot air rises, I have to assume most of these top mounted, especially pull setups, are using hot air to cool the water.

While a air cooling system will have better exhausting, and will generally be using cool air in both a push or pull setup to cool down the fins of the heat sink. Now it may seem I have already made up my mind, and I probably have, but really the only thing that comes into play to me in the water cooling vs air cooling debate is aesthetics. I just have yet to see any bench test of water coolers that blow air cooling out of the water, again no pun intended, and finically I just can't justify spending an extra $100+ just to have a 5 degree difference,

Well when you have a system that can, in alot of cases, cost multiple thousands, investing the extra $100+ is not that much to improve the longevity of a system and avoid components being damaged due to being used at a high temperature for a long period of time. so while it may not be viable for moderate/small amount of gaming, if you were using it as part of a job e.g. a youtuber, this would be very viable as it would matter in the long run.
