Hello Tomshardware users!

i recently moved into a different house and i decided to play some League of Legends.
i then noticed that my wifi connection in my room was pretty bad.
the modem is on the 1st floor and i am on the 3rd floor.
i know the best solution is to run an ethernet cable but this is not an option for me.
i cant move the location of the modem either.
we have an extender on the 2nd floor but it is pretty bad.
is there any way i can get a better signal? would buying a a wifi router help me (TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND V3)?
or should i get a powerline adapter?
if you know any other solutions please let me know!
thank you.

i've read online that the performance of powerline depends on the quality of your power cables and if it's on the same circuit, now i don't know anything about electricity but anyway i can make sure that it will work ok enough before i go out and buy the adapter? thanks for the fast reply!

i'll be living in this house for only 1 year and i'm not allowed to drill anywhere. also running the cable outside isnt an option since my parents will see the cable and it will bother them. thanks for the quick reply!

Power line is indeed affected by the quality of the wires. They work best on the same circuit but they will work across breakers. The latest models that say av600 or av1200 also use the grounding lead so they tend to work best.

Still you should always buy these from a place that has a good return policy there are a tiny number of houses they do not work in.
