Hi all

I have just built a system for my daughter to join her brothers in their minecraft playing. The specs for the system are:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500@2.93GHz
Mainboard: Dell Inc. 0N826N
Memory: THIS IS THE PROBLEM POINT
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT610
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64

The issue I am having is when I use 4GB of ram (4x1GB chips) it is fine and the PC works.
However, when I slot in 4x2GB chips (for 8GB RAM) the system will not function. I have checked the specs of the Mainboard and it says that the chips should work based on the specifications of the chips allowed.

The chips I want to install are: 4 x 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz NON EEC LD UNBUFFERED.
The chips I have in are: 2 x 1GB PC2-6400 DDR2 400MHz and 2 x 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 333MHz

I can't work out why its working with the lower RAM but Dell's website says it should work fine with the higher RAM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem lies with the fact that you are trying to use two different speed RAM kits. You are also using two separate kits all together.

If you grab a fresh 8 gigabyte kit, it should work like a charm. Happy Minecrafting

Hi and thanks for the response,

The chips I have in that are working are the mixed set. The 2 x 1GB of PC2-6400 DDR2 400MHz and 2 x 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 333MHz. The issue I have is that I have a set of 4 x 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz chips which I want to install but that won't work in the machine, even though the manufacturers online specifications say that they should work fine (I bought the chips with the manufacturer's specs in mind).

Sorry if my ramble of an original post didn't show what the problem was.

Once again, thanks for any help.
