Questions about adding ram to my system

My current system is an AMD fx6300 cpu, ASUS m5A97 R2.0 970 mb, Gigabyte R9 270x 2gb gpu and G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin 1600 ram. I just ordered another set of the ram that I already have so that I will have 16gb total. I'm pretty sure that I got the right ram so i shouldn't have a problem with the ram being compatible.

I noticed that my ram that I have in now only recognizes as 1333 when it's suppose to be 1600. I have no idea how to change this or if I should even change it. I also don't know if I just plug my new ram in and it will show up on its own or is there a step that I have to do for it to show up? I'm not very computer literate so i apologize in advance. All help will be much appreciated.

Solution
to get 1600 mhz you will need to enable XMP in BIOS. you can leave it at 1333, there is no noticeable difference.
new memory should show up automagically, you don't have to do anything.

Thanks for the help! I'll probably go ahead and enable xmp just for the heck of it if I can figure it out.
Have a good one.

Hey gbb0330, I have a new problem. I just added my new ram into the last two slots in my mb and when I hooked the pc back up and tried to turn it on it does nothing. The computer isn't getting any power as the mb led isn't coming on. Have you ever heard of this happening? I suppose a wire came un plugged but I have no idea how that would have happened. I put my static band on before I did it so it shouldn't have been that. If you can reply back I would appreciate it.

check the cables. check the switch on the back of the power supply. maybe you turned it off by accident.
