Just got my first gaming computer. Trying to figure out what to upgrade first.

R9 280x graphics card
Amd fx 8320 CPU
600 watt PSU - Don't know the name but from what ive read, need to get a good name brand one
12gb ram
Don't know the motherboard.

Basically just play WoW as of now. From what I understand, the motherboard is the main thing that runs everything and some things don't work with certain motherboards. I have around $300 dollars as of now to upgrade so not too much to throw around but hopefully start getting upgraded piece by piece over time. Thanks for any help!

Since you currently have an AMD motherboard with AMD cpu, you'd have to go with the 1-gen-older Haswell so that you don't have to buy the newer DDR4 RAM that is used with latest gen Intel Skylake.
Being the older gen, the cheaper listed...

Socket type? I really don't know much about taking apart/putting together anything in a PC. Would definitely be looking into guides, etc beforehand haha.

So if you get a new mobo and cpu do you want an intel or amd cpu?
Also I mispoke earlier there are a couple of options for a new cpu but it depends on how much wattage your mobo will support.

Well that is a topic of some debate. But yes an i5 will be you best bet for a gaming only rig.

Being the older gen, the cheaper listed price of some MBs aren't actually in stock so the ASROCK is the best choice currently available in term of specs-vs-cost.
Lastly, the Seasonic S12II 520W is a PSU with solid performance that can handle most i5+single GPU solution (non-OC).
