Computer randomly freezes

My computer specs:
RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR4
Motherboard: Asus Z170-AR
CPU: 6700K overclocked to 4.4GHz
Graphics Card: GTX 780Ti
Hard Drive: 256 GB SSD + 4 TB HDD + 1 TB HDD
PSU: Corsair RM1000 (1000 W)

The problem that I have is that since I've upgraded my CPU/mobo/RAM about a year ago my computer randomly freezes from time to time. It always happens when some game is running and not during other activities. It doesn't happen often enough to be too bothersome, but when it happens it's annoying. Sometimes weeks go by without a single issue. Other times, this starts happening several times a week. On average, I think it happens about once every 15-20 hours of gaming. The freezes that I get require a hard restart. Basically the screen freezes (doesn't go black), all sound stops (music, in-game sound, etc) and even my keyboard and mouse seem to restart (they have lighting effects). Also, I hear a faint clicking sound when computer freezes, but I have no idea what that could be.

During stress tests, some CPU cores might hit around 90C, but computer is stable during long stress tests (I've tried several hours). GPU temp reaches about 80C max. Another thing I've noticed is that while GPU temp seems stable, CPU core temps are all over the place during stress tests. They fluctuate rapidly between about 70C and about 90C. Mostly they are in 75-85 range though.

At first I thought there could be an issue with windows 10 drivers. But after so many months and update to drivers nothing seems to have been fixed. For the first few weeks CPU/mobo installation, I was using windows 8 and never experienced an issue. But then on windows 10 I sometimes don't have issues for weeks either, so that just may be down to my luck. The other thing that's confusing me is none of these problems show up during stress tests. The type of games that I play don't really stress my comp that much. I mean, I never get temps over 60C with most of the games I play, so that suggests to me that I have no issues there.

The only parts that are new in this comp are the CPU, mobo and the DDR4 RAM. I've tried running windows RAM diagnostics, but no issues were detected. I've also tried defragging my hard drives. At this point, I feel like there is nothing I have not tried. Any help here to solve this puzzle is greatly appreciated.
