Just got some new RAM, new CPU for my girlfriend's computer, and used an 'old' Asrock 970 Extreme4 motherboard because hers died. Put everything together, booted right up, downloaded drivers on my computer, USBd them to hers, installed and the internet won't work.

The ethernet drivers allowed the PC to 'see' that I was connected to the network, but I still don't have internet access.

I've flushed the DNS, reset the ip with a command prompt and ipconfig /release/renew.

I tried 1) type on the CMD window: "netsh winsock reset catalog" and press enter.
2) after done, type: "netsh int ip reset reset.log" and press enter.

Booted in safe mode w/ networking, w/out, neither worked.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, no. Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit. I should also add that I've now plugged in a USB wi-fi adapter, Netgear A 6100, downloaded drivers on another PC, installed them on hers, and it can see all of the wireless networks, and connect to them.

Still no internet access though.

Tried that, did nothing. Same with modem. I redid everything I'd done, flushing DNS, etc, and now I have internet. BUT, all my other computers are testing around 100mb down and 20 up, hers is hovering around 12k/sec. No clue what's going on now. Never had this happen.

Ok, so....no idea what actually got the internet working. BUT I solved the slow speed issue. The motherboard driver package came with some XFAST LAN utility that was throttling ALL traffic into my computer. As soon as I uninstalled it, speed went back up. It's still not as fast as the other computers, but I'm chalking that up to it being an older mobo.

So for those looking for help w/ the same issue I had initially, with the internet not connecting, but the network connecting...I don't know what actually fixed it. But the steps I listed may have helped.
