Having trouble booting from an SSD

Hello, I recently got a PNY 240gb SSD for my Lenovo P400 to replace the 500gb hard drive in it when I bought the laptop. So I uninstalled a bunch of programs, deleted some old files and movies I didn't need and brought my space down to 120gb, and cloned it using EaseUS Todo Backup. It seemed to work and when I have the SSD connected, it comes up as Windows8_OS (G;) My problem is when I installed the SSD, and start the computer, it says "Checking Media" and then tells me the boot has failed and gives me a bunch of information that I don't understand. I don't fully understand any of the boot order stuff, don't know what bootable media is or how to create it and use it, and I surely don't want to trial and error my way through this because I start school soon and really want a fast laptop before I go away. If anybody could please walk me through the process or direct me to a thread that goes into detail, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance

Solution
This is an OEM OS version right?
I believe you should just contact the laptop's manufacturer's on that. I don't think you'll need to get another OS.

Hi there avellone5,

I believe you will need to provide some more information on the issue.

Did the cloning process finish successfully?
What are the partitions on your HDD? Did you shrink the partitions you wanted to clone(through Disk Management)?
It would be nice to write down the error messages that you get.

So I believe you should perform the following steps:
- Go to BIOS and adjust the boot order, so your SSD to be the #1 boot option. In case the issue persists, then there is something wrong with the SSD or the cloning process.
- Take out the SSD and put the HDD back in. Once your system boots, you can attach the SSD and run some brand specific tool in order to check it's health status.
- If the SSD is in a good shape, then you need to go to Disk Management, take a screenshot and post it here. Just upload it to an image hosting website and paste the link over here.

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)

OK so when I cloned the drive, I did not do anything with the partitions. So tonight I will format the SSD, and reclone it making sure to shrink the partitions in disk management? I probably should have gotten a picture of the error message I got, but I did manage to get a picture of the message I got when I tried to boot it. Here it is in full:

EFI Network 0 for IPv6 (20-80-84-F4-28-9F) boot failed.
Checking media_

I believe it did the same for IPv4

In the BIOS I never saw an option for the SSD, and I can't remember what the options were.

My friend is going to help me out (he has more experience with installing SSDs, so hopefully we can work it out :)

Thank you very much for the response though! I'll update the thread soon

Update; so I brought the computer over to a friend's house and he formatted the ssd, re-cloned it but actually shrunk the partitions this time so everything got cloned. Upon startup I received the following error message:

Your PC/device needs to be repaired.
A required device is connected or can't be accessed.
Error code: 0xc0000225
You'll need to use recovery tools.

What I was thinking, because this seems to be a problem with a million solutions that probably won't work for me, was reformatting the ssd and doing a clean install of Windows 10. Only problem is I don't have the key for Windows. I bought the computer 2 years ago brand new, but I can't seem to find a product key for Windows. Is there a way around this?
