I've always had decent/not bad FPS, because i had a AMD radeon r9 270. But after buying ASUS STRIX GTX 970, i expected the fps to increase and me to be able to record games well. Unfortunately, i have no hope in recording games well, even if i do adjust the game settings. This problem seems to be present sometimes even when i am not recording. My cpu and RAM seem fine, and i have no idea what could be causing this. I downloaded the drivers from the website also, just to make sure.
Update: I get low fps when i have programs like xsplit gamecaster open too
GPU: Gtx 970 overclocked
CPU: 3.9Ghz six core overclocked
RAM: 8gb
Windows 10

If your monitor is plugged into the motherboard and not the video card, you are using your onboard video, not the 970.

Your CPU is also a bit slow for gaming and recording at the same time, an SSD would help a bit, but if you are not using the 970 that is a big issue there.

Sounds like you need to update your drivers. Download GeForce Experience, it downloads Nvidia drivers for you. Also make sure your monitor is plugged into your gpu instead of the motherboard.

When I first built my PC, I accidentally plugged my monitor into my mobo instead of gpu, and it destroyed fps. Try checking if its plugged into your gpu, if not that could be your problem.
