I am trying to find a new AMD CPU for and was wondering if someone could give me advice on what to get. I'm trying to find one that is between $100 to $150 or near that. It must have 4 cores and at least 3.5 GHz. it must be an AMD CPU because I have an AMD graphics card and cant play No mans sky with an Intel CPU.

My Current specs are

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz

Video Card AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series

RAM 16 GB

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit

Solution
I can't tell if this is troll post or not.

Firstly who told you that you cannot play NMS with an Intel cpu?

Secondly the i7 that you have is roughly the same performance as the BEST cpu that AMD currently make (AMD FX-9590 Eight-Core ~$250).

Sooooo googling a bit it seems the issue is actually with your GPU not your CPU

From steam forums:

How I fixed performance on R9 390
My specs are i7 4770k, 16GB RAM, AMD R9 390, Windows 10 running @ 1080p.

- Enable borderless full screen in-game.
- Disable vsync in-game, force vsync through AMD/Nvidia control panel.
- Enable Open GL triple buffering in Nvidia/AMD control panel. Yes, this is an Open GL game.
- Set FPS to MAX. Any other setting will cause ♥♥♥♥ performance.
- Set...

- Set Anisotropic Filtering to 1 in-game and force 16x AF through Nvidia/AMD control panel.
- Anti Aliasing causes a noticeable performance hit. With FXAA on I get around ~45 fps, I just turn it off to keep my framerate in the 50's.
- Any other setting that I did not mention can simply be left MAXED OUT if you have a decent GPU (e.g. GTX960 equivalent or better)

In conclusion, this game is simply poorly optimized and nothing you can do will make it run like it should (should be rock-solid constant 60fps considering the low budget graphics) but if you follow these steps atleast you will be able to enjoy it till they patch it.

they just updated it to where if you try to launch it with an intel cpu it wont work for some reason they wont support them cause you need open gl 4.5 and i have 4.4 and no updates will fix this. (no trolling being serious, the game is fun but after the update i cant play now.) i cant even get past the hello games logo where as yesterday the game ran fine

opengl has to do with your gpu drivers

>.> lol

are you trying to run the game with your cpu's built in?

Honestly not sure what you mean by that. Im still kinda new to PC gaming. Alot of people were saying that the game would not run on an intel cpu cause the devs said they do not support them. the game was running fine but now i cant get it to run for more than 2 seconds so i assumed it was because of the CPU.

OK so opengl support is not related to CPU. Graphics drivers are linked to your gpu, and from what I can find your R9 390 doesn't support opengl 4.5

but it's all dependent on the drivers.

this is a link for the checker for the opengl version

have a look and see what it says for your hardware. Also i've seen that it's better not to use the beta drivers, just use the latest main release.
