GPU doesnt fit in the case

Hi guys, I'm building my first pc and I got a problem with the GPU.
It seems the I/O shield is not high enough (1cm maybe?) and I can't put the GPU in the motherboard inside the case correctly.
Now I don't know if I'm simply doing it wrong or if there's something wrong with the GPU/case.

My GPU is a Radeon RX 480.

I see no reason why it wouldn't fit...

Have you put the stand-offs for the board in the right places so it is raised away from the case (otherwise when you turn it on it will blow).

The GPU has a longer bit of the IO shield that goes down behind the mobo (kind of a way to keep it straight). You move the metal bit behind the board then continue with the slotting in of the GPU.

I think Im not doing it wrong but it doesnt connect to the PCI slot.
Amybe a picture can show it better?

Try and remove the adjacent pcie slot covers(Might be protruding out slightly and blocking

Did u remove the pcie x16 plastic connector cover?

Remove gpu and check for any offending campacitor or components

Try another pcie slot

What's your mobo??

Its just looking at the slot I see no PCIE clip, I'm starting to think it doesn't have one a PCIE slot and your trying to plug it into a PCI slot.

A picture of the open case from a both would help so we can see the whole build.

Yes I did everything but it doesn't help, I can't press it further down.
And there are no big capacitors near the first PCl slot the could hinder the GPU

My motherboard is a ASRock Z179 Pro4S and it has a PCIE slot (at least it's written in the manual)

Open you case and but its on its side so the open side is facing up, stand up and take a picture from above so we can see the computers insides.

Your suppose to pull the latch back (the latch on the right side of the PCIE slot) then slot the card in. Then the latch clicks back into place when you have slotted the card in.

Hmm very odd, I wonder why is won't click in.

(Side note, I have the Cooler Master EVO TX3 version cooler and I put my fan on the other side, which is a 92mm Noctua fan, so it can suck in the air coming from the front intake. Its the recommended side)

Hmm ok maybe I will send the case back and try another one since I dont think that the GPU is the problem.
and I will remember about the cooler. Like I said, its my first time building a computer.

Fan wise if you change its side don't forget to put the fan the right way so the air travels the correct way. If you put the fan on the right side you want it to 'suck' air 'into' the cooler.

Currently your cooler is 'sucking' air 'out through' the cooler.
